Supported Contact

What is Supported Contact?

Supported contact involves low risk to child/ren and the service being required mainly due to the parents’ communication breaking down due to either divorce or separation.

This level of contact takes place either in a contact venue or out in the community based on parents’ requests and what is deemed safe and appropriate. This type of contact requires no close observation, monitoring or evaluation of individual contacts/conversation unless requested. Only dates and times of attendance are recorded. Notes are not taken during the session. However, any safeguarding concerns are responded to imminently and referral made to responsible Local Authority as appropriated.

This service can range for a short period to around six months and in exceptional circumstances this can be up to a year depending on risk.
